- Structural Formula:
2-Hydroxy Phosphonoacetic Acid is a powerful ferrous metal corrosion inhibitor suitable for all-organic cooling water formulations. It can improve the solubility of zinc, so it can be used either on its own or as part of an all-organic or low-level zinc program. The corrosion inhibition ability of 2-Hydroxy Phosphonoacetic Acid is 5-8 times better than that of other commodity phosphonates such as HEDP and EDTMP. When combined with low molecular weight polymers, its corrosion inhibition effect is even better. Moreover, 2-Hydroxy Phosphonoacetic Acid(HPAA) is also a cost-effective alternative to sodium molybdate and can be more easily tested in the field. It is an environmentally friendly product with higher biodegradability (93%) and a much better environmental profile compared to other available programs.
Technical specifications are as follows:
- Appearance: Dark brown liquid
- Active content, %: 50.0 min
- Total phosphonic acid (as PO43-), %: 25.0 min
- Phosphoric acid(as PO43-), %: 1.50 max
- Density (20℃), g/cm3 1.30 min
- pH (1% water solution): 1.0-3.0
2-Hydroxy Phosphonoacetic Acid is mainly used as a cathodic corrosion inhibitor in well-controlled halogenated cooling systas such as steel & iron, petrochaical, power plant, and medical industries. The effect is even better when built with zinc salts.
